Find An Extra Source of Income
Yesterday I received notification from the power company that our monthly bill is going up. Recently, we received our auto insurance policy which showed an increase for the new year (I thought that the more loyal you are as a customer the lower your bill - according to the insurance company some laws changed - nice!) In July I found out that my monthly commute (train & bus) expense will increase from $79 to $193 per month starting in October. Wow! In addition to those, there are a few other monthly commitments that are heading up. What should one do?
In these days of broke governments, shrinking budgets, uncertain jobs, little or no pay increase and stagnant investments, it is an added insult when your expenses continue to rise while your income does the slow march. In an effort to stop the gap, many people comb the Internet looking for ways to make extra cash. It is my encouragement that you should do the same.
However, while I am suggesting that you find an additional source of income, I am not insisting that you search the Internet for one. Yes, you can find legitimate ways to earn an extra dollar on the Internet (I have). Yet, the fact is that with so many people searching for a way out, there are many others offering baskets with which to carry water. Got it? My preference is that you find something that you like to do, and can offer to others at a price.
We are very resourceful. The Bible declares in Genesis that God made us in His image and after His likeness. Additionally, the Bible states in Psalm 139 that we are beautifully and wonderfully made. Think for a minute about the universe that God created. Awesome! Now, if that same God has put some of Himself in us, what can stop us from innovating and creating something marketable?
Yes, it is easy to sit and lament about all the price increases, but what a waste of time that is! Let us get up and build something - together would be great.
Interestingly, I was just talking with a lady at the bus stop and she expressed her sadness about the impending train and bus fare increases. I told her to find something to make extra money and she asked me for ideas. My reply - "It must be something that you enjoy."
Go and do the same.
Now, when you have found something that works for you - it's an individual thing - share it and I will post your success story. By the way, the best place to start is to pray for direction. God has promised to freely give wisdom to anyone who asks (James 1).
Go innovate!
