Happy Monday!

Do you notice how we all get excited about Friday? “Is it Friday yet?” The week has just begun and we hear each other saying, “I can’t wait for Friday.” The days sometimes appear to drag and then Friday comes, and Saturday and Sunday. Before you know it, it is Monday again. If you are like me, you wake up grateful to be alive, but then you sigh, “I can’t believe it’s Monday already.”

What’s our obsession with Friday and the weekend? What about life’s journey? Are we missing some good times because we only want to ride a part of the time?

Studies have shown that most Americans are unhappy with their jobs. There are several reasons offered for this high level of job dissatisfaction: inadequate wages; poor benefits, if any; insensitive bosses; little or no flexibility to deal with family matters; monotonous tasks; and a slew of other factors. I believe that you may agree that if most people fall into one of the above “groups” of people, it is understandable why we do not want Monday to come – especially so quickly.

However, in our haste to get to Friday and the rest of the weekend, are we missing out on some of life’s goodies? The fact is we must live whether it is Monday or Friday. We must relate to others; we must deal with issues; and we must consciously or unconsciously influence others for good or bad. Could we be missing some of the fun that life offers on Monday through Friday, because we are so bent on getting to Friday evening?

Live each day as if it is the last day of your life.

My contention is that life is now. I am guilty of looking for the next big thing, the next break, the next vacation or the next weekend and I sometimes miss the beauty of a moment. Come on! Let’s wake up and smell the roses. Saturday is as a good a day as Monday, because God made them both for us to enjoy.

It is time to enjoy the moments.

Let us enjoy that game with the kid; eating that bowl of cereal; chewing on that barbequed chicken leg; walking the aisles at Wal-Mart; making love to your spouse; hanging out with that friend or co-worker on Monday; attending church service on Wednesday; laying in the couch and watching TV on Tuesday; running to catch the train on Wednesday; and whatever other moments you have.

Is it Friday yet?

Fight For Your Family!

Fight For Your Family – God’s Will

1 million divorces!  You heard me.  There are about 1 million divorces in the United States every year!  I read this information a few days ago and was blindsided.  Yes, I know that the divorce rate in the United States is very high, but I have never thought about it in terms of the actual number of couples that fall apart each year.  When I saw the number I immediately felt a shot of pain go straight to my heart and I was moved to encourage you (and myself) to fight for your family.

Let us look at the numbers more closely: 1 million divorces mean one million families wrecked; one million or more children thrown to the whirlwinds of a broken family; one million women who have been left to struggle on their own; and one million men who are left feeling like failures and in some cases jerks.

This is unsustainable!

The high divorce rate means a breakdown of community, a heightened amount of feelings of inadequacy and failure and an erosion of wholesome sanctuaries in society.  It also means thousands of children who are forced to deal with brokenness, disappointment, disorder and a sense of helplessness and betrayal.  And so the call goes out: fight for your family.

Satan is smart.  His ultimate aim is to destroy the church and our faith in God to keep us together and give us victory over the power of sin.  Satan knows that if he breaks a family apart, chances are that one or both parents will move away from the church and the child or children will be tossed to and fro.  When the church numbers dwindle, fewer people contribute to the preaching of the gospel and the reaching of those in need.  If the bleeding continues, ministers are forced to make cuts and in many cases church, as an organization, fails.  However, we know that the church itself – the people – can never fail, because “Greater is He in us than the devil who is in the world.”

Additionally, the devil is aiming to reap chaos and havoc in our society.  Broken families mean broken and disappointed people; people feeling helpless and depressed; people harboring bitterness and anger (unless God is allowed to intervene).  The more bitter, disappointed or depressed people feel, the less likely they will be to contribute to the building up of society.  Thank God for relatives, friends, churches and organizations that rescue many people from going off the cliff of give it all up.  But we must remain cognizant of the fact that the devil will stop at nothing to destroy our families; so we must be prepared to fight for our families.

How will we fight?

Fighting may mean turning off a favorite TV program to spend time with your spouse.  Fighting may mean not having the last word in an argument.  Fighting may mean just hushing up.  Fighting may mean throwing off your perception of manhood and helping with the children.  Fighting may mean learning to show appreciation for what he does, even though he should be doing it anyway.  Fighting may mean taking time out to play with the children.  Fighting may mean saying “Thank you” for dinner.  Fighting may mean running into the store to get a rose or few.  Fighting may mean not using sex as a weapon.  Fighting may mean committing your lives completely to God and acknowledging that without His help this is difficult.  Fighting may mean reading the Bible and praying together.  Fighting may mean not mentioning the “d” word.  Fighting may mean resolving that come hell or high-water, you will not give in.

I call upon every married couple to get up every day ready to fight.  Let us not fight just for our children, but for US.  When the children are gone, we will be left.  If we have not fought for us before the children leave, there will be nothing to hold onto when the children are gone.

May God strengthen and enable you and me to fight for our families.

Government Promises Medicare Fix - Funny!

Funny Promise (with holes) from Government

In their drive to ram a monstrous health care bill through Congress, the President and Democratic leaders are claiming the current bill will drive down the deficit by more than $100 billion in 10 years and by more than $1 trillion in 20 years. When asked how this will happen, the Democrats have said that one of their main tools is to eliminate the fraud, waste and abuse in the Medicare Program. Wow! Did you know that there were fraud, waste and abuse in the Medicare Program? Do you believe that before today the government was aware that there are fraud, waste and abuse in the Medicare Program?

So, if the government was aware that there were fraud, waste and abuse in Medicare Program, why it is that nothing was done to eliminate them? Could it be that the government did not fight to eliminate fraud, waste and abuse from the Medicare Program because we the people pay for Medicare? Or, could it be that the government just simply failed to do an effective job of eliminating fraud, waste and abuse from the Medicare Program? What do you think?

If you believe that the government failed to do an effective job of removing fraud, waste and abuse from the Medicare Program, why should we trust them to do it going forward? And, if they failed before and will fail again, why should we believe that they will gain a large portion of funding for health care reform from their elimination of fraud, waste and abuse from the Medicare Program - which they will not accomplish?

What do you think?

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid's Pepper Pot

The drive for health care reform is driving the Democrats nuts. Irrespective of public sentiments, President Obama and his deputies, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, are gunning for anything, do or die, to push a massive health care bill through Congress and ram it down the throats of the American people.

What will they think of next?

The newest idea on the table is something called a “deem vote procedure.” Call them for an explanation. From what I have heard, it would provide for passage of the healthcare bill without an actual vote in the House. As you might have heard, after Scott Brown’s win in Massachusetts, the plan was to get the Senate version of the health bill through the House en route the President’s desk and then pass other health care related matters through the reconciliation process. However, due to the failure of the Democratic leaders to amass the votes for passage, they have to cook up something else – a pepper pot – if you will. Pass the bill without an actual vote. Wow!

What will they think of next?

Harry Reid bought several votes in the Senate – Landrieu of Louisiana and Nelson of North Dakota – to get his version passed. Additionally, the President cut several deals with certain groups to get them on board with “health care reform” and there has been quite a bit of backroom dealing. NOW a DEEM VOTE is in the mix. Are the Democrats creating rules as they go? Have they sealed the Constitution until they can pass the monstrous bill that is currently in Congress?

Are these people fit to govern? America has spoken – check the polls – but President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid refuse to listen.

Is it time to recall those faulty vehicles?

Israel's Ramat Shlomo Project

The US is outraged over Israel's recent announcement of plans to build 1,600 houses for Jews in East Jerusalem. Reports are that the US is most perturbed about the timing of the announcement - it happened around the time that Vice-President Biden was visiting that region. Not only does the US feel insulted, but there is fear that this move by Israel will defeat attempts by the US to revive fragile peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

My question is: What is this constant antagonism between Israel and the world regarding Jerusalem?

Jerusalem - all of it - belongs to Israel.

Long before the United States became a thought and the United Nations a proposal, Jerusalem was the established capital of Judah, southern section of what is now all Israel. God chose Jerusalem as the central city of what was then the Southern Kingdom, but always said that Jerusalem would always be His everlasting city of what would later become One Israel, Northern and Southern Kingdoms united again. As was foretold by Hebrew prophets, the 20th century saw the rebirth of Israel and the miraculous defeat of neighboring nations that attempted to prevent what God had foretold and had put into motion.

Go to the Bible and see the facts there.

The US has for a long time benefited from its goodness to Israel. This must continue. Additionally, the US must guard against becoming like other nations in its actions towards Israel.

God will always fight for Israel - against all her enemies.

I will admit that we have a serious situation with Palestians living areas surrounded by Israel. I will concede that efforts must be to ensure that the two peoples live as harmoniously as possible. However, we should not lose sight of the facts - Jerusalem is Israel's.

Internet Marketing Success

So, how does one succeed at internet marketing? The internet is plastered with 1000’s of network marketing ventures. One needs only spend an hour online to be bombarded with innumerably, great-sounding ideas. How many ideas can one person try? ONE or at most TWO ideas should be enough if you want to achieve internet marketing success.

The reality is, unless one is willing to devote all energy and time to a good idea, one will never achieve network marketing success. It is quite easy to be pulled in many directions if you are not committed to ONE.

What then must one do to succeed at internet marketing? It is simple. Research several offerings and select ONE idea (no more than two). Get to know your business in and out:

1. How did the company begin?

2. What is unique about your product?

3. How have business owners fared with that company?

If someone asks what is special about your business, do not repeat some tow line. You will be more convincing if what you say comes from within and from knowing yourself. Get to know.

After deciding which idea to run with, pay little attention to all the other offers of “quick success” and “latest invention to make you rich.” Focus! Focus! Focus! Yes, I would encourage you to seek additional information on how to promote your business. There are many ideas out there. A lot of it is free and some things you will have to pay for. Seek out the free stuff first and then spend a few dollars on something else. Remember, value is in the price.

Some ways to promote include:

1. Free Ad Postings;

2. Traffic Exchanges;

3. Blog Posts; and,

4. Forum Participation.

The above ideas work only to some extent. What I have found about free ad posting sites and traffic exchanges is that the people who participate are just like you – looking for traffic. They may not be prepared to jump into your business. Why should they, anyway? If they want to succeed they need to do what I am telling you – Focus on their business. However, there may be someone who may be trying something that is not working and may be searching for a way out. Your business idea may be the best thing to hit them.

As I said, the free stuff will only work to some extent, which means you may be forced to spend. Look out for meaningful and productive ways to invest every dollar.

To wrap up – to achieve Internet Marketing Success you must Focus on your ONE (or two) business ventures. Avoid being pulled in many directions.

Happy Marketing!

If you are searching for information on building your ONE business venture, see our collection of information-rich ebooks. You may find help here. Thank you.

Riding Hope During Recession

The unemployment numbers for February were recently announced and by all accounts the economy appears to be heading in the right direction. For the first time in many months the number of people laid off in one month was less than 100,000. That's great news and it gives many a reason to hope.

Yet, for many who have started to dance, the reality is that there are many people who cannot find a job - I have two friends who've been unemployed for more than a year. Additionally, there are people still losing their jobs.

Last Friday, a friend of mine who works from home on Fridays was called to a special meeting on Friday morning at 9:00. The subject of the meeting - the entire group was being let go and their jobs will be shipped to India. As the word goes - one salary in the US can pay five in Asia. Why not ship all jobs overseas?

As my friend recounted the events of Friday morning I was amazed at how peaceful he was. He mentioned that many people cried, but not him. When his wife came to pick him up - everyone was released after the meeting - she remarked how happy he looked and thought that he was weird. How can you just be told that in 2 months you will be out of a job and be happy?

My friend's answer is simple - I know that it will be difficult to find something, but I have two months to search, two months of severance pay and the hope of unemployment insurance. He also added that God is good and will take care of his family.

I hope that this positive attitude will rub off on someone who may be despairing right now.

Politicians Dance a Jig

Do you ever wonder why politicians do not or cannot give a straight answer?  It is really amazing and downright annoying to watch a politician being interviewed.  There is no “Yes” or “No” answer with politicians.  Why is that?  Yes, someone will say that they must be careful of what they say for that could come back to bite them.  True, but shouldn’t we all be careful?  What about speaking honestly to an issue?

If someone asks, Senator, did you vote for Bill A?  The answer is “Yes” or “No.”  The answer should never be, “I voted for Bill A before I voted against it.”

Let me attempt to paint a picture of what a typical interview with a politician looks.

Hostess:  Senators, welcome.  Thanks for taking the time to join me tonight.

Senator A:  It’s good to be here, Greta.

Senator B:  Thanks for having me, Greta.

Hostess:  Senator A, the President has called a summit to attempt to push healthcare reform forward.  Do you think this shows that the President understands that the American people want both sides to work together to find a compromise and do what’s right for the country?

Senator A:  Well, Greta, the President has always been mindful of what the American people want and that is why he has been working overtime to get Congress to pass a Bill that will benefit all America.

Hostess:  Senator A, can you say that with all the back-room negotiations and special awards to some senators that the President has really been mindful of doing what America demands?

Senator A:  Greta, President Obama was elected by the people because of what he promised them – working everyday to make America and the government work for them.

Hostess:  Senator B, do you think the President’s call for a healthcare summit underlines his understanding of what the American people want.

Senator B:  Greta, President has been pushing a socialist agenda and is leading this country to the far left.  My party has said from the beginning that the health care reform bill in its current form is an expansion of government which will lead to the higher premium taxes and a ballooned deficit.

Hostess:  Is the President hearing the calls of Americans?

Senator B:  The President is an ideologue who is bent on imposing his views on the America people.  Calling the summit is really is a futile effort to give a semblance of bi-partisanship.

Hostess:  Senator A, are you wearing a blue shirt?

Senator A:  Well, Greta, to you it may appear to be blue.  However, what you do not know is that when light hits it, it gives off a silver color.

Hostess:  Senator A, is the shirt blue?

Senator A:  It is whatever color you think it is.

Hostess:  Senator B?

Senator B:  Well, Greta, I cannot argue with what Senator A has said.  Perception is key.  The shirt does appear to be blue, navy blue in fact, but it may not be.

Hostess:  Senator A, I understand that following the occurrence of angry demonstrations in your state demanding that you vote against the Healthcare Bill or be voted out of office, you are now leaning towards a “No” vote.  Senator A, will you be voting “No” on the Healthcare Bill?

Senator A:  Greta, let me set the record straight.  I have long opposed many aspects of the Healthcare Bill that is currently being debated in the Senate.  I have said repeatedly that we must find a way to fix our healthcare mess without adding to the deficit and piling up debts for our children and grandchildren.

Hostess:  But, Senator A, you supported the first vote on the Bill.  Why the change of heart?  Are you fighting to hold your seat in November?

Senator A:  As I said before, I have opposed this Bill from the beginning and believe that we must take time to get it right.

Hostess:  Thank you, Senator A.  Senator B, your party is accused as being the Party of No.  Is there anything that Senator A’s party can do to the current Bill to make it a bi-partisan effort?

Senator B:  Greta, the President is pushing a socialist agenda that will bankrupt this country.  The current Bill needs to be scrapped and re-started.

Hostess:  What must be included to get your party’s support?

Senator B:  My party has offered many great ideas that will make for more meaningful reform and not push the country to the brink of a Chinese take-over.

Hostess:  Senator B, name one of those great ideas.

Senator B:  We have proposed tort reform to control malpractice insurance costs which in turn would lower the number of unnecessary tests conducted.  Consequently, a visit to the doctor would cost less.  Greta, my party believes the current Bill must be stopped before…

Hostess:  Thank you, Senator …

Senator B:  We must stop the other party from leaving a mountain of debt to our…

Senator A:  What about the debt that your party left the current Administration?

Hostess:  Senators, we’re out of time.  Thank you for being here.

Senators:  Thank you, Greta.
