Core Values

Which of our 2 presidential candidates have core values? Whether or not you love President Bush, you must admit that he has certain principles that have guided his decisions and actions. Now we have 2 men vying for Bush's job and it is hard to tell which has core values.

Aren't you tired of would-be-leaders who want to be everything to all people? What about doing something because you actually believe it? Think about Dick Cheney. He refused to back George Bush's push for a Constitutional Amendment to protect marriage, because his daughter is gay. So, does he believe marriage is between a man and woman or not? People with core beliefs don't change to suit a certain crowd or family member.

So, McCain or Obama, who has core values? McCain opposed offshore drilling, but now supports it. Obama was a member of Trinity for 20 years, but now he's not. What changed? For McCain, Americans are reeling from the pain of high gas prices. For Obama, his church for 20 years makes him appear radical, to whites and some blacks - those whom he must win over to become president.

Some may say that both men made smart moves, but I say, they are not true. Yes, we make some adjustments in life, but when our values are challenged we hold on for dear life. Our core values make us who we are.

Which of the 2 men will be guided by deep-seated values when he takes office in January, 2009?
